Octavarium Mar 5th, 2008, 01:12am BTW Thales, the cuttle imperial march video was great! Im checking your site out. Thales Mar 5th, 2008, 11:57am Thanks! There are new videos on the back burner - the still camera has been too much fun! Octavarium Mar 16th, 2008, 03:43am Thales would you still have any cuttles available in a month or so? Im getting LR and sand this week, plus ordering a coralife protein skimmer. I want to start cycling the 29 (cuttle is my top choice for inhabitant), and I have some rocks/sand from my octos tank I can add to help seed...so hopefully I'd be looking at a little over a month for cycle, which is why Im curious if you think you'd still have any available. cuttlefishguy Mar 18th, 2008, 11:11pm I have 25 sepia bandensis eggs and hatchlings available for sale. For more info contact me at iphoneak@gmail.com. Thales Mar 19th, 2008, 12:13am Thales would you still have any cuttles available in a month or so? No idea if I will have them then. I think I will, but you never know. cuttlefishguy Mar 19th, 2008, 12:30pm Thales would you still have any cuttles available in a month or so? I will have them available for you then. shipposhack Mar 22nd, 2008, 11:58pm I have 4 3 month old cuttles that I will sell for $75 each plus $50 for fedex priority overnight (sig required, there by 1030). PM me if you are interested. paleltuma Mar 27th, 2008, 04:03pm Hey guys! What you think, does cuddles last shipping to finland as ann egg. Or should i think some other way to get one? The other thing i wanted to ask was how many? I planned to get 100 gallon tank whit 30 gallon sump + shelf with three 12 gallon tank to raising food. So if i dare... How many sepia bandensis i should take? I'm intressed to try mate em. Thales Apr 6th, 2008, 12:55pm Shipping across country lines is problematic, and most won't do it. Check into your import laws. I still have 4 or 5 for sale. Paradox Apr 7th, 2008, 09:12pm I will have hatchlings for sale. These hatchlings are from eggs laid and bred in captivity. Price to come shortly. I am thinking to sell them through Thales, since Im not too interested into all the packaging and shipping duties. I would very much like for recipients of these cuttlefish to update their development and experiences on Tonmo, so we can track them for multiple generations. Will post more shortly. Paradox Apr 7th, 2008, 09:14pm PS: Thales your inbox is full ! esquid Apr 7th, 2008, 09:34pm what is the furthest in continental us that any of you have safely shipped cuttles? i'm in maine and want to have cuttles at some point in the future. Thales Apr 7th, 2008, 10:26pm Full no more! I believe I have shipped to Maine, so I don't think it would be a problem. proplayer23 Apr 8th, 2008, 06:06pm I looked in to www.qualitymarineusa.com and they have cuttles listed. They tell you where they get them from but don't have the species name. It just says Sepia sp. The only bad thing is that these are wild caught. They also have eggs listed but I am not sure what species they are. Quality Marine is a wholesaler that only sells to stores, but most LFS I have contacted said they would special order for me. They also have tank raised octos listed, but again no species or picture. I have a question also. I kept a tank raised octopus from fishsupply.com and want to try cuttlefish (Fish supply no longer ships any fish but they do have a store in CA) I go to school away from home and want to try and keep a cuttlefish. Would it be too stressful on the animal to transport it home during my long break over Christmas and transport it back to school after? It would be a little less than a 3 hour drive. monty Apr 8th, 2008, 06:22pm :welcome: to TONMO There are several people with tank-raised bandensis right now, so they'd be more of a known quantity. I'm not sure about the car ride, so I'll leave that for others to answer. Inception7 Apr 11th, 2008, 11:24am Does anyone know how to get Officianalis? I think after my Octo passes I will try one of those... L8 2 RISE Apr 11th, 2008, 03:25pm They are currently not in the market as far as anyone on tonmo knows. Check the cuttlefish availability forum often, the NRCC has some as always, but you cant get them unless you are doing research on them. One thing you could do is check the High Schools around you, some have marine biology programs that are constantly doing research, you could probably convince one of the seniors to do something with an officinales for the senior project, then just ask for the cuttle when they are done. But by the time your octo passes there may be officinales on the market again. fishkid6692 Apr 18th, 2008, 12:47am anyone know somewhere where i can get cuttlefish eggs? i want to try and raise them myself. simple Apr 18th, 2008, 05:55pm yea id be interested in raising my own as well, unless i can find a cuttlefish supplier on the east coast.. Paradox Apr 18th, 2008, 05:59pm I have Tank Bred hatchlings for sale and possibly some eggs. Ill post details soon. simple Apr 18th, 2008, 09:00pm Paradox if you are located on the east coast (so shipping isnt too much) i would be very interested, send me a PM whenever you have either eggs or hatchlings available. Paradox Apr 18th, 2008, 09:15pm Hello, unfortunately, I am on the west coast. Captive Bred Bandensis availability and details can now be found at this post http://www.tonmo.com/forums/showthread.php?p=115563#post115563 treefiddy May 2nd, 2008, 06:37pm Paradox i am in Seattle and i am upgrading my 30 gal reef tank to 55 gal and in two to three months will want some eggs to start breeding if possible at that time. AquaForce May 2nd, 2008, 07:53pm ditto. i have a 55 reef that has been waiting for cuttle eggs!!! i desperatly want to try to raise then breed..... only if they are from different genepools though.... PLEASE PM me when eggs are available.... Thanks! Paradox May 3rd, 2008, 12:00am Hiya treefiddy. I cant guarantee what Ill have then. Im still trying to figure out what factors affect successful viability rates in eggs. So far further batches of eggs seem problematic. You will not need a larger tank until they are adults. You can always purchase a few that I have now for they will probably need to be in a breeder net for a couple of months anyways since they are small. PLEASE PM me when eggs are available.... Thanks! I just had some eggs laid - you get some if they are fertile for being so cool about the occy. seanjs May 3rd, 2008, 04:55pm The Hidden Reef 3645 N US 1 Cocoa, FL 32926 636-9006(not sure of the area code) They had 2 mimics for $200 and what I think might have been a Briar for $30, as of 5/2. The guy said he forgot the name but that he came from Nicaragua. *shrug*. He has a fairly decent sized wholesale/retail operation and claims to get octos in weekly. I asked about cuttles and he said he had just sold a Flamboyant the previous week, for $150, and that sadly, the customer murdered it. WHEA Student May 14th, 2008, 01:17am i am looking for some cuttles for the West Hawaii Explorations Academy we have lots of experience with octopus and other marine animals such as the scalloped hammerhead and sea horses is it possible in any way to get like 3 eggs in September of this year?? look the school up At Http://www.whea.net Mahalo Nui Loa Kyle,:sink: monty May 14th, 2008, 01:57am :welcome: to TONMO! This is the thread to keep an eye on, but I expect no one's going to be certain about supply that much in advance... Since you're a school, you may be able to order from the NRCC, although they may only have larger cuttles like officinalis and pharonis, while Thales, Paradox, and a few others have smaller bandensis. WHEA Student May 14th, 2008, 02:05am good info thanks cuttlegirl May 14th, 2008, 08:13am Have you contacted the Waikiki Aquarium? They might be able to help you. I have to thank NOVA for their cuttlefish special the other day, ever since then, i cannot seem to stop thinking about them, and now my boyfriend and i are seriously considering getting our very own cuttlefish. So, this is where i need your help. We live on the west coast, seattle washington, to be exact, and we're not sure where we can get a healthy cuttlefish from. So, does anyone know of any place in the greater seattle area where we can possiably accuire a cuttlefish. also, if we did get one, we were thinking we could go down to our local marina and grab a few of those small crabs that live under the rocks, just to save money, are they ok to give to cuttlefish? I guess if you guys have any advice for beginners and how-to's id greatly appreciate it. thanks! treefiddy Aug 19th, 2008, 05:37pm i live in seattle as well and hope to get 4-6 so i can get a pair but only want the pair mabye two pair but i think i heard they might be on vacation. treefiddy Aug 19th, 2008, 05:46pm sorry that was short i would be glad to give the other cuttles from the six but far as getting them we have to wait for availability also check the link above cuttle farm army monty Aug 19th, 2008, 08:25pm Hey there! Thales, Paradox, and Shipposhack have had good luck with breeding them over the past year or so, but we haven't gotten updates for a bit (go back a few pages) and it's probably best to order from them, since the suppliers for most fish stores are sort of unpredictable... of course, if you can find a local fish store that reliably has cuttles let us know! A lot of people have fed locally caught crabs and shrimp, so it can be done, as long as the marina isn't horribly polluted. Make sure to check out the ceph care articles (click the ARTICLES button at the top of the page) for more info! mattyice Sep 10th, 2008, 11:57am well im new to tonmo but i have been keeping reef tanks and FO tanks for awhile as well as Mantis Shrimp so i understand the need for keeping a predator tank...looking to add cuttlefish to the list now anyways i see that this thread hasnt been posted in for awhile...is there any update on the availability of these awesome animals? i might try and see if my sister-in-law who is a teacher can get me a few Sepia pharaonis from that place in texas dwhatley Sep 10th, 2008, 11:34pm i might try and see if my sister-in-law who is a teacher can get me a few Sepia pharaonis Be sure you are aware of the size of the pharaonis - they need a VERY large tank. mattyice Sep 11th, 2008, 08:46am Be sure you are aware of the size of the pharaonis - they need a VERY large tank. whoops  it was my understanding that they were in between the size of the Sepia officinalis and the Sepia bandensis...that takes that one out of the equation monty Sep 11th, 2008, 08:07pm whoops  it was my understanding that they were in between the size of the Sepia officinalis and the Sepia bandensis...that takes that one out of the equation They are, actually. Sepia officinalis can get a bit bigger, even (18 inches / 45cm). Pharonis can get almost that big (like 12-16 inches.) They both need quite large tanks as adults. dwhatley Sep 12th, 2008, 01:47am whoops  it was my understanding that they were in between the size of the Sepia officinalis and the Sepia bandensis...that takes that one out of the equation For reference bandensis max out at 6" and I am not sure if any of our keepers have had them grow quite that large. mattyice Sep 12th, 2008, 08:53am For reference bandensis max out at 6" and I am not sure if any of our keepers have had them grow quite that large. yeah, i thought the pharaonis was a little close to the size of the bandensis...my 125 wouldnt be large enough for the pharaonis anyways so that took it out of the equation immediately dwhatley Sep 13th, 2008, 12:26am Paradox has raised multiple bandensis (as well as hatching and raising some from eggs) in his 150 and has a website (http://thetentacleparadox.com/album/index.html)with some (lots) photos that you might want to view. Keith Sep 21st, 2008, 12:38am I've actually been tryin to get ahold of Paradox in concerns to some Bandensis. I checked out his page, that's a hella cool tank set up. Even the squrril skulls he's got on there. Not exactly sure what those are, but it fits. Thales Sep 21st, 2008, 01:44am We don't have any cuttles at the moment. Actually, I do still have one male from the last breeding group. I should figure out how old he is. Wild eggs should be available soon too. Keith Sep 21st, 2008, 02:31am cool cool. how often do you get them? treefiddy Sep 22nd, 2008, 04:33am Sweet, definitely would like to get some eggs wild or other. jkitawasson Sep 23rd, 2008, 02:36pm Hi, I have a young bandensis I'm selling it's almost 4 months old and about 2 inches, eating like crazy on amphipods and copepods. I bought it as an egg from cuttlefish guy so I know the age of this cuttle. I'm selling it for $150.00 plus $60 shipping and unfortunetly I can't guaranty live arrival. We all know how these guys ship.
