I've abandoned my plans to build an ark and will get scuba gear instead. Melissa cthulhu77 Jun 1st, 2003, 12:57pm My, my...all that rain! We got back from our house in Mexico last week...jeez...85 degrees with a nice breeze off the ocean... sorry, just had to rub it in! :) WhiteKiboko Jun 1st, 2003, 02:49pm you guys arent kidding about the rain....instead of the roughly 3inches of rain in an average may, we got dumped on with 10+.... on the bright side, the 4-5 yr drought is gone..... :cthulhu:   Fujisawas Sake Jun 1st, 2003, 03:21pm Yes!!! PROOF OF THE NORTHWEST TREE OCTOPUS!!! Yippee!! Or, at least a squibbon... :heee: Sushi and Sake, John WhiteKiboko Jun 2nd, 2003, 10:20am this isnt cephy, but i have to throw it in because it confirms EXACTLY what ive been telling people for years.... its nice to have my rants confirmed....(or at least have company in being crazy) daily laughter is so much more important than accurate facts... (i guess they have neither) :cthulhu:   tonmo Jun 19th, 2003, 07:30pm http://alanb.com/squid/squid-fs-comic.jpeg :) (PS -- I realize Gary Larson has asked that his publications not be reproduced... but this is a one-off, OK methinks) WhiteKiboko Jun 20th, 2003, 01:01am i have not seen that one in so many years!!! good job  WhiteKiboko Jul 5th, 2003, 02:15pm not on a sunday, but still comics.... tonmo Jul 21st, 2003, 08:37pm I've attached this weekend's edition of Skylock Fox, with a true or false quiz about octopuses for the youngsters... answers are below, upside down...enjoy! lithographette Jul 23rd, 2003, 02:01pm I really like that illustration, although it does not seem to have much to do directly with the quiz. I like the idea of the octo mimicking the divers shark cage! Very cute. Clem Aug 25th, 2003, 06:19pm Any "Pogo"-philes, out there? I recall that one of Walt Kelly's "Pogo" stories involved an octopus (referred to as an "octopobble") that took a liking to Howland the Owl, refused to budge from his head and wiled away dull moments by smoking cigars. None of the "Pogo" compendiums I have access to include this story-arc, which I believe ran as a weekday series in the early 1950's. :?: Clem supernick Nov 2nd, 2003, 11:50am ANYBODY GOING TO PUBLISH A(ceph) COMIC IN A PAPER? :yinyang: supernick Nov 2nd, 2003, 11:59am whassa pogo story? Melissa Nov 2nd, 2003, 05:56pm Pogo was a comic strip drawn by Walt Kelly. Yes, Clem, the octopobble exists, and if we get to visit the right people over the holidays, I might be able to locate the octopobble stories. Aside from octopobbles, Pogo had a great deal of political subtext, and could be in the propaganda thread if the reader was up on the news contemporary to the strips. Strom Thurmond might be the only one in the comics whom readers today might remember. Melissa Clem Nov 8th, 2003, 12:46am Aside from octopobbles, Pogo had a great deal of political subtext, and could be in the propaganda thread if the reader was up on the news contemporary to the strips. Strom Thurmond might be the only one in the comics whom readers today might remember. Melissa, Thanks much for providing some "Pogo" background. Fidel Castro did make an appearance, and he might be the last of Kelly's targets still standing. Please do let me know if you come acrost the octopobble, but watch out for ol' Champeen Hoss Head. Porkypine tonmo Nov 30th, 2003, 11:26am http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/o/octopus.asp :) NickA5582 Nov 30th, 2003, 04:08pm Here's a one of mine. :) I have several others, but all are from The Far Side. Jean Nov 30th, 2003, 06:32pm  :roflmao: I just love Calvin........what an inquiring and inventive mind that child has!!!!! J OctopusV Dec 1st, 2003, 01:15am Well, this is a Sunday Cartoon, not a comic, but the new episode of The Simpsons had a premise in which Homer builds a suit of armor to fight a bear that attacked him, when Marge objects, Homer sneaks out the next morning with Bart, when Lisa and Marge realize they're gone, they check the "Suit Closet", one of the contents being a: Contry Music Octopus, they then find the bear suit gone, and Marge gets ready to go, but turns around to find that Lisa has donned on the CMO outfit, "Just to see what it was like". Lisa then can't help but get into character by saying "Howdy Y'all! If ya don't like my song, I'm gonna spray you with ink!" WhiteKiboko Dec 1st, 2003, 02:21pm i was quite delighted.... http://www.tonmo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=15315#15315 NickA5582 Dec 2nd, 2003, 05:37pm Here's two more Calvin & Hobbes. Melissa WhiteKiboko Feb 16th, 2004, 10:08pm wouldnt that make it a freshwater octo? or do gators do the brackish thing too? WhiteKiboko Mar 15th, 2004, 02:00pm Today's foxtrot, in anticipation of some movie or something :) WhiteKiboko Jul 26th, 2004, 09:32pm It seems ive been lazy (or maybe i could blame the cartoonists) but heres another http://www.tonmo.com/phpBB/files/snq040724gif.jpeg tonmo Jul 26th, 2004, 10:05pm    Steve O'Shea Jul 27th, 2004, 09:01pm (PS -- I realize Gary Larson has asked that his publications not be reproduced... but this is a one-off, OK methinks) I've two signed originals on my wall at home .... wonder if I should copy them and place 'em online? WhiteKiboko Jul 28th, 2004, 02:08am heck, auction em online..... you might fund a year or two of research..... if i had any cash, i definitely bid...... sasakii_9 Jul 28th, 2004, 03:18pm Hey! Did you know that the comic Mutts had an *adorable* comic involving a cuttlefish?? :D While the dog and cat were gazing into the water off a dock they were standing on, cat in the spied a cuttlefish in the water. He mentioned to the dog that cuttlefish communicate by altering the color of their bodies. As an experiment, he stuck his head underwater, which turned a few colors due to the fact that he was holding his breath. The cuttlefish then looks aghast, and smacks him across the face with a tentacle, and then swims off. The cat looks at the dog, shrugs, and quips, "...must've been something I said!" Dunno if you could access it online, but when I saw that sucker in the Sunday Times, i cut it right out. I can't wait to pin it back up on my dorm room desk, where it belongs. 8) Later! :heee: WhiteKiboko Sep 13th, 2004, 12:31am i think our fossil happy friends mightenjoythis one.... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/uclickcomics/20040904/cx_nq_uc/nq20040904&e=2 cthulhu77 Sep 13th, 2004, 02:24am LOL...that is hysterical! Melissa Sep 22nd, 2004, 06:09pm Greg, that's from the "build your own" site, Red Meat Construction Set. Choose your characters, write the dialog, and the program generates the strip. http://monkeydyne.com/rmcs/ cthulhu77 Sep 22nd, 2004, 10:43pm Doesn't that irritate the creator???? I can't imagine being able to do that with Calvin and Hobbes.... Melissa Sep 23rd, 2004, 10:25am It can't irritate him very much, it's linked to his own site. cthulhu77 Sep 24th, 2004, 10:00am Ahhh...didn't see any links from that page, but perhaps you have to be a member?
