Phil Apr 24th, 2006, 06:38am That's fantastic. I'd be quite apprehensive turning the light on, being forced to stick my finger in the beak. Does it come with a Captain Nemo finger puppet?
Graeme Apr 24th, 2006, 06:45am That's awesome, Toren, I want one now... obviously it has to be a bathroom switch... damn you pull-switches!

sorseress Apr 24th, 2006, 09:18am That's really great, Toren. You ought to market them.

They are 10.99, which isn't bad, as metal light switch covers cost about 4-7 bucks as is...so one with a squid on it? Deal !
Captain Squidface Apr 24th, 2006, 03:12pm I just ordered mine. Now I need to find a squid lamp shade.

I don't mean to take sales away from Toren's beautiful work, but while we're on the topic of switchplate covers there is an outfit in Colorado that sells beautiful ones cut from fossiliferous limestone from Pakistan. They cost about $8 and my fiancee and I buy a bunch whenever we're at the Geological Society of America annual meeting where they have a vendor display. I can't find any pictures of the plate covers, but you can see what the rock looks like in this (lousy) photo from their website(the limestone is on the right): mortars and pestles in limestone and marble (http://www.naturesown.com/mortars%20and%20pestles.htm)

Toren Apr 24th, 2006, 05:42pm Very haute couture - but where are the tentacles?

Yeah, for CafePress that means I get between 2-3 bucks. I'm open to other merch suggestions!
Toren Apr 24th, 2006, 06:08pm I just ordered mine. Now I need to find a squid lamp shade.
Thank you Captain Squidface!
And for the rest of you - don't forget Mother's Day is coming up!
tonmo Apr 24th, 2006, 07:58pm This is extremely cool, so much so that I will not remove it for violating our guideline of no solicitations in the public forums... but I must lock it! Please refer to site guidelines at the top of each forum subject listing, or just click here (http://www.tonmo.com/forums/announcement.php?f=13&a=4). Thanks for sharing just the same, Toren!
Toren Jun 7th, 2006, 05:01pm Just testing to make sure this thread is no longer locked.
thanks!
tonmo Jun 7th, 2006, 06:34pm Yes, thanks! For newcomers... this thread was resurrected with the advent of the re-opening of the Marketplace forum.
Toren Aug 23rd, 2006, 02:13pm Well I actually went ahead and ordered some for myself (finally) and they came in the mail yesterday. I was trepidatious about Cafepress quality but I must say they really turned out nice! I know my opinion isn't exactly neutral but I can assure you that if you like the design that you see in this thread, you'll be happy with the finished product.
tonmo Aug 23rd, 2006, 07:34pm CafePress makes good stuff. My TONMO.com mugs have lasted me years -- big and sturdy. (not an intentional plug!)
Donnerboy Sep 5th, 2006, 04:18pm I just ordered mine. Now I need to find a squid lamp shade.
I don't know about lamp shades, but as for finials that screw the shade to the lamp, here are two. Both are from www.artifaqt.com.
I love the switch. I think I'll buy one. May I list it in another thread? I have one titled Ceph Furniture and I would love for people to see one of our cohorts work as well.

Sure, go for it. I don't allow sellers to post their wares anywhere but in this forum (Marketplace)... but for discussion / admiration of products that the poster is not affiliated with, as long as it's cephy, it's welcome in any appropriate forum.
Steve O'Shea Sep 9th, 2006, 09:32pm I had a peek and the squid switch cover is discontinued.
Toren Sep 13th, 2006, 03:07pm Discontinued? Huh? What? Mine?
I'll look into that right away.
Toren Oct 10th, 2006, 02:05pm So it turns out that Cafepress did indeed discontinue their light switch covers. I found another place that can do them, but I have to place a minimum order of 100 which means I'll be dropping over $400 - so I want to get as much marketing info as possible. I figure I'll sell the new batch for about 10-12 bucks, can I get a show of hands whose interested? (ps they'd make great Christmas gifts!)
Donnerboy Oct 10th, 2006, 02:16pm Absolutely put me down.
And we'll show it on the ceph furniture thread. We can put a direct link to buy it.
Toren Oct 20th, 2006, 10:02pm News: I now have a part time job with a merch promo design company called EmbroidMe - so that should help the archi lightswitch cause! More news as it develops. In the meantime, check out my new design:

Steve O'Shea Oct 23rd, 2006, 02:28am I'll have to pick a few up; this house is incomplete without a GS light switch cover!!
Toren Jan 26th, 2007, 07:54pm Alright - FINALLY! Archituethis is in the house. And he can in yours, too!
