View Full Version : Cuttlefish Availability
Illithid Apr 5th, 2006, 05:21pm I guess I am just jealous of the Octo thread, but we should know where cuttlefish are available too.
Just to let everyone know-
Aquatropics has bandensis eggs-I just talked to them (4-5-06 5:00pm)
Click here to get thier contact info. (http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr=&q=aquatropics&near=Gainesville,+FL&radius=0.0&latlng=29651389,-82325000,16036219077130127566&sa=X&oi=local&ct=result&cd=0)
Nancy Apr 6th, 2006, 01:26am You're right - I just haven't set up the Cuttlefish Availabillity post (which sticks at the top of the forum) yet.
Glad there are some available.

speek Apr 6th, 2006, 02:41pm any idea if they ship?
Illithid Apr 6th, 2006, 04:07pm I know for a fact they do.
speek Apr 7th, 2006, 03:22pm excellent thanks!
jojo Apr 7th, 2006, 06:23pm I was indoor reef www.indooreef.com the other day asking about octopuses and they said they can also get S.Prashadi, S.Apama, and S. Latimanus cuttles and are willing to ship.
Brock Fluharty Apr 7th, 2006, 06:30pm Those would be cuttlefish I think. S. stands for sepia, which are cuttles. Never heard of those species at all, let alone in the aquarium trade.
jojo Apr 7th, 2006, 06:46pm Yes they are cuttlefish.

I have never heard of s.prashadi. I couldn't find it in ceph world guide either. I am surprised they can get the others too.
jojo Apr 7th, 2006, 10:54pm Here is some info I found on the prashadi http://www.cephbase.dal.ca/spdb/speciesc.cfm?CephID=37
Thales Apr 8th, 2006, 12:52am Apama and latimanus get very big, like a meter and 1/2 a meter respectively.
jc45 Apr 8th, 2006, 06:31pm Has anyone kept any of them?
cttlfish Apr 9th, 2006, 12:15pm I have never heard of anyone keeping S.prashadi or S.apama, although I belive a few people keep S.latimanus. Although keeping an S.apama would be undeniably cool (the cuttle would be almost as big as you...), you'd need a tank the size of a swimming pool to give it adequate space. S.prashadi does not appear to be common in the pet trade, even though it looks fairly common, and is medium-sized, at least according to this website here: http://www.zen-ika.com/zukan/01-10/p06.html. Truly, the only thing that seems to be keeping S.prashadi out of our aquariums is the fact that it's not really well known.
i need cuttle Apr 9th, 2006, 01:33pm  Hmm.........
