Yeah i was missed  !!!! well lets see, i never did loose interest in Octos, but i got side tracked looking for Octos in Caves:grin:
I've become a full cave diver since i was here last, know of any species that live in caves? I have seen some really rare speices, such as a Blind Salamander in a cave in N.FL. Apparently they only exist in 3 caves systems in the world.!
Phil Mar 23rd, 2006, 05:39am Welcome back! Any pictures of the salamander to share?
tonmo Mar 23rd, 2006, 06:31am octopush, you are remembered! Good to see you back! We are like Jack Torrence in The Shining... we've always been here.
cthulhu77 Mar 23rd, 2006, 08:27am Who gets to play the creepy little girls?

Aren't salamanders only found in freshwater like all other amphibians or are there some saltwater species? You may not find octos in caves with salamenders!

octapush Mar 23rd, 2006, 07:35pm Yes, you are right, i was diving in the Fresh water caves in North Florida. So no Octos in caves? What a shame.
Heres a few pics
tonmo Mar 23rd, 2006, 07:40pm Those are great pics!
Greatest. Sign. Ever.
octapush Mar 23rd, 2006, 07:41pm and some more. Sorry about the quality. Didn't get pics of the salamanders, need a better camera, its dark in there you know!!!:goofysca:

I know, those signs are at the front of every cave, you know to prevent the untrained idiots. The most amazing part of the cave training is when they make you switch off all your lights and its blacker then black and you have to feel your way out. Oh boy does that test your mental ability, i thought i was going to get stuck at one point, but couldn't see anything! Interesting feeling

Now you need to try the blue holes out in the bahamas. I've heard many stories about giant octo's and stingrays living in the blue holes.
Euprymna Mar 24th, 2006, 07:33am Wow, great pics, must be very nice to dive there.
Looks a bit freezing though! What's the temperature in there?

Roctopus Mar 24th, 2006, 10:10am Hi, Octopush! Glad you came back! Are you thinking of getting a ceph or do you still have one? Hey, that looks like Ginnie Springs! And I think that sign's at the bottom of Devil's Ear? I'm one of the idiots who can't go past with [I]only[B] an AOW cert. :-) Still, the ballroom is good enough for a first trip! Maybe you need a dive buddy one day?
Euprymna, I think it's usually 72 degrees.

Yes its Ginnie Springs!!! Wow Devils Ear is some cave. I hope you didn't think that i was implying anyone that was not certified to go past the sign was an idiot!! I only meant anyone that does and is not certified is
I'll let you know when i return to FL. I plan on going to Mexico this summer cannot wait

maybe you can get the first pix of octopus giganticus. The stories I heard are probably folk tales but they make good stories.
Roctopus Apr 2nd, 2006, 06:54pm I knew you meant no offense; just messin with ya! When you make your way back to FL check out the Rainbow river. Five miles of crystal clear spring water, tons of wildlife, giant gar and baby gators, small caves to explore, and you can dive it like a three hour drift dive!!! Just bring an extra tank!
Be sure to look for our freshwater squid! ;-)
