Dan bobwonderbuns Mar 13th, 2006, 09:44pm Boy, in Michigan we have a slightly different problem -- lakes and rivers around here are both depleted and clean (thanks to the infamous Zebra Mussle!) That has its own set of problems. Mizu Mar 14th, 2006, 07:57am we so need freshwater octos to clean out the zebra mussles Steve O'Shea Mar 14th, 2006, 01:36pm Boy, in Michigan we have a slightly different problem -- lakes and rivers around here are both depleted and clean (thanks to the infamous Zebra Mussel!) That has its own set of problems. Has anyone explored a commercial use for this mussel? As in chowder? We have many marine invasives in New Zealand and this year I've got 3 students looking at the role they play in food webs. I've a sneaking suspicion that they are extremely important in coastal food webs given the extent of anthropogenic impact, loss of diversity and associated weak links in food chains (leaving us with a few strong links .... a system liable to crash in the event we lose something else). Mizu Mar 14th, 2006, 01:40pm Zebra mussles are very small like baby clam kinda small would take a LOT of them to make chowder |
