View Full Version : Would this be to big????? really dumb kid Oct 9th, 2005, 04:47pm would a 55 gallon tank be to big for a bandensis or would a 20 gallon work for life. i need cuttle Oct 9th, 2005, 05:16pm you could have around three in a 55 gal and from what i have heard as long as there is enough food, they do great in groups. i think a 20 is the miniumum for a bandensis, but i think around a 30 is prefered. really dumb kid Oct 9th, 2005, 05:34pm ya i just dont know if i have the money to feed three and whats a good food for them that's not really expencive. Thanks, sorry im in a hurry i need cuttle Oct 9th, 2005, 06:46pm if you live by the coast your fine, you can just feed them local crabs/shrimp and such, if you are like me and inland, you will have to buy the food, i buy 20 vulgaris shrimp every two weeks, and its like 18bux. so thats not that bad $9 a week. i buy it from the aquaculture store. really dumb kid Oct 9th, 2005, 09:23pm how much do you feed them one a day. really dumb kid Oct 9th, 2005, 09:31pm If my lfs has none of the vulgaris shrimp can i order them online. i need cuttle Oct 9th, 2005, 10:24pm yes, i feed my one cuttle one or two a day. i forgot the link to the site. but do a search for sachs aquaculture store and it should come up. Thales Oct 9th, 2005, 10:52pm you could have around three in a 55 gal and from what i have heard as long as there is enough food, they do great in groups. FWICT, we only have a few data points supporting this and not supporting this, so it may be premature to state it as truth (not that that is what you are doing! ) Also important to note, that they seem only to have done well in groups (in the groups they have done well in) if they were raised together. S. bandensis that are wild caught seem to fight a great deal if kept together. i need cuttle Oct 9th, 2005, 11:27pm thats very interesting, i wonder if they realize that they are related? but your the closest thing the an expert righty so you obiviously know more then i do. If they are infact raised together, dont they seem to react well. from all the stuff i have been reading, as long as there is plenty of room and food, they seem to do well. although i would assume that there would be some fighting( one of mikeys posts as well as your site) btw they lil guy you sent me is doin great, and getting big. really dumb kid Oct 9th, 2005, 11:39pm hey righty do you have any Sepia bandensis and i tried the site and i know this sounds dum but were on the site do you buy them????? Thales Oct 9th, 2005, 11:59pm I post here when I have some for sale. I don't post them on the site because, they just aren't that available yet. Maybe I'll add something to the site explaining that! I may have some wild caught eggs next week. Thales Oct 10th, 2005, 12:01am thats very interesting, i wonder if they realize that they are related? but your the closest thing the an expert righty so you obiviously know more then i do. Glad to hear its doing well! I had a group that was raised together and didn't do well. It may be because of crowding, it may be from other reasons. I have seem many conclusions jumped to on the internet (ginger to treat ich, for instance) so I try to do my part in the bandensis area. I think groups raised together will do fine long term, but the evidence isn't there enough to feel comfortable stating it as fact. Have you been reading anything on bandensis? What? i need cuttle Oct 10th, 2005, 01:27am mainly just basic articles of mating in the wild, and more on their physilogy. but i have also been going through the tonmo archives for any info. if you know any books or other articles on them i would be greatful. i did find a old documentery on them and officialis 1995 i think on one site for sale, i didnt buy it, but i might. i believe that either the london aquarium or the munich aquarium may be doing so research on them from some stuff that turned up when i googled for a while. but if you know of anything in pirticular to look for i would appriciate it. Thales Oct 10th, 2005, 01:55am I can't find much at all - thats why I am asking you! Can you post a link to the documentary? tjohnson Oct 10th, 2005, 02:57pm Any idea how many eggs your getting? really dumb kid Oct 10th, 2005, 05:55pm Well I'm going to buy a 30 gallon and wait till all readings are safe(90 days give or take) . Not no nag but how often do you get them in. i need cuttle Oct 10th, 2005, 07:33pm :hmm: im lookign for it on google, but cant seem to find the site. ill let you know when i find it. |
