got the octo in finally and he wasnt in the tank five minutes when he ate a hermit twice his size!!! is this normal!!!

Yes!!! That's good!!! Very good!!!! Means you acclimated him fine and he's comfortable and hungry! Don't be surprised if after his big meal he doesn't disapear for a day or two. Resist the urge to look for him physically! He will reappear!!! Best of luck!!!
