hi all, just got back from St. Aubin sur Mer in Normandy & found it's poisoned with Jurassic goodies too !

in the east there's the Callovian/Oxfordian Falaises des Vaches Noires (Black Cow Cliffs coz apparently the fallen boulders on the beach look like black cows, they don't, but the Calvados dept. is famed for some strong brews !)
Didn't come away with too much here except some Peltoceratoides partials & non ceph. corals, Gryphaea lituola & superbly preserved Lopha gregarea. This is a very sticky blue clay venue so leave the Gucci in the Jag Phil.

next we headed back west a bit & tried Lion sur Mer & found a badly eroded large Bathonian Nautilus, some nice coral & brachiopods.

Lion sur Mer also plays host to the "Maison du Fossile" which is a superb private collection, predominantly Mesozoic ceph. based, collected over 30 years by a nice French lady & her ol' man & costs peanuts to get in.

Last we had a stab at Port-en-Bessin & came up trumps with a nice haul of currently unidentified ammonites which haven't been snapped yet either but here is the venue.

looked round the "Maison du Fossile" in Lion sur Mer, cleaned fossils & checked for other cliff sites on my maps, sharpened my chisels & polished my BFH ! see, did loads more !

just east of Omaha beach are some nice jurassic cliffs but long walk so accessed via Port-en-Bessin where you could find zee Germans, next is Longues sur Mer with more nice cliffs & well fragged gun emplacement so more of zee Germans, then there's the Mulberry harbour :canada: :unionjac: :usa: so not find zee Germans there & so on & so forth.

The 3rd Reich had no plans to rule the world all it appeared to have designs on was all the best French fossil sites, the Swastika being a stylized suture pattern attributed to Hitleroceras
