View Full Version : bump on my cuttlefish? outhus Dec 13th, 2004, 02:13pm there is a round bump about 3cm tall at the very end on the top surface of the body. i noticed it yesterday and today it is much bigger. is this normal? cthulhu77 Dec 13th, 2004, 02:21pm No. could you send in a pic? greg joel_ang Dec 13th, 2004, 07:58pm Doesn't sound normal... COuld you get a pic? it woiul help alot. Colin Dec 14th, 2004, 03:08am sounds liek abump from jetting backwards... can u see the cuttlebone? cthulhu77 Dec 14th, 2004, 05:56am OOOff...that would suck. How big is your tank? outhus Dec 14th, 2004, 01:17pm i cant see the bone. its wierd it is always darker than his apperant color. my tank is only 60gal :-( i am getting a 180 for him but it may be a couple of months. it looks like a blister that could pop? i will try to load the pic cthulhu77 Dec 14th, 2004, 01:28pm I received the one you sent to me via email...and I hate to say, but it does look like the cuttlebone...I hope I am wrong! greg marinebio_guy Dec 14th, 2004, 03:02pm It is most likely a gas bubble or tissue build-up that forms form them constantly running into the tank. It is not life threatening but can lead to bigger problems. If it keeps running into the side of the tank it will most likely crack its cuttlebone and possible die. joel_ang Dec 14th, 2004, 10:58pm Could be an infection from butt burn thats causing the bump, I don't think its a cuttlebone, too round. Octomush Dec 16th, 2004, 12:25am Does it affect his locomotion skills at all? It sounds weird.... Getting bigger u say? Hope the poor little guys pulls through. outhus Dec 16th, 2004, 06:37pm actually it is getting smaller :-) im keeping the water cooler, it seems to be calming him down. is there any kind of antibiotics or medicine i could put into the water that might help? |
