Can I put an octopus in a fresh water tank???? Would it die instantly or over a few weeks/days? How would it live with fish/frogs?

An octopus wouldn't last 10 mins in freshwater.

:welcome: to TONMO.com!

Sorry to disappoint you but nearly all cephalopods are strictly saltwater.

Hard to imagine a fresh ceph.

Which are you talking about, Joel?

yep, as people said... an octo would die!

worse than that it would surely be an agonising horrible death if put into freshwater!!!

If Im not wrong there are a few cephs which can tolerate slightly lower salinities, but even brackish would be too low for them.

even little bimacs can tolerate a little change in salinity as they are a tidal mud flat species as could any animal from that area or from rock pools but I'd still aim for full strength sea water :)
