Cool, thanks for the pics!

I'm no expert (can never seem to say that enough), but from what I've picked up from this site, if the eggs appear totally white, it means they're probably not fertile. Can anyone with knowledge on this chime in?

Excellent pictures! I like the second! Was that Jetta watching? She looked mad!! Doesn't it take a few days before you start to see some development? I know one of the octo eggs, after a week or so you could see a spot in all the eggs.

Good luck!!

These were also taken with the tank lights off and three large flashlights on her and the eggs, that might have something to due with the color but only time will tell at this point :P

it takes a while to tell if they are fertile or not...

remember any disturbances to her now will cause problems, sometimes when they are aggitated they seem to stroke the eggs so much they fall off the cave

There is a possibility that the eggs could be fertile, If you wait some days more and the eggs are fertile, you should be able to see the babies developing inside the eggs.

Welcome, Sekhmet

I have the same question as Joel, did you make the animated octos? :notworth: And, did you use 3-d poser software? A geek friend needs to know.

Well I got a good look at the eggs today :) , thru the glass  There is def. development here. Small dots are forming in the eggs and they seem to becoming more dense?????HMM dont know how to explain that one but I think they are filling in or out, but def. there are the black looking dots forming at the end were the eggs are attached :)

So it looks like you have fertile eggs, as we suspected. Please don't forget to keep us informed about how you're preparing for "the big event".

Has Jetta taken any food yet?

(excuse my scary english!!! http://2ni2.com/emoticon/patriota/francia.gif)

   Oh no ! I didn’t create this gif. You can see in its details that it has been made by YRAM Enterprises, 2002 :notworth:
(contact : webmaster@yram.com). When I saw it, I found it so wonderful that I thought you’ll be glad to see it.

In fact I have collected lots of octo-gifs all around the web ; my avatar comes from a french website about free gifs. If you are interessed in, I can try to find the link.

So what are the little black dots that i am seeing developing in the eggs? and on Sunday there was only one clutch that had the dots now there are three. Does this mean im going to have waves of hatchlings? Depending on when they were Laid ? This is so fascinating. Im gonna have to rig up something that shocks me if go near the tank

well exciting!!!! Good Luck!! :D

Does anyone know what happens to the mother an the eggs when they hatch?

Without meanin to sound insensitive, does she just wonder out an kop for it once her eggs are hatched? or does she pass away once they are at an almost hatched stage? get were im goin with this???

Well i suppose she wont eat them since she's off food and spent all that time carin for them?

Just wonderin about the usual process? :D

Nancy

Yes, Debbie, you can expect wave after wave of hatchlings - they will probalby hatch over several days, which is a good thing for you.

Usually, the mom will die during or after hatching, sadly they will be eaten alive if there are predators as they will be too weak to fight back.

scouse, my briareus died about 2 weeks or so after the eggs hatched, she just crawled out of the den and didn't move much again, she went very pale about 3 or 4 days before dying

Not to be morbid but Ink did the total opposite of what the norm seems to be. Continued to eat, became so active at the end it was almost like she had gone senile. I think I would have prefered a quick end because it was hard watching so much senseless activity, knowing what the end result would be. And it took her quite a long time.

That part I am not looking forward to :( I just hope i can get at least one of her babies to survive so i can tank raise it. More would be cool but I know Im fighting a tough battle :?

jeez its quite a sad thing to go throu, even thou you kinda mentally prepare knowin they only live not so long i suppose, hhmmm.

i was wonderin cause i was intrested in if the mother dyin would kinda, in theory, provide some food for the newly hatched babies, to ensure they had some source readily available.

Althou it wouldnt make major sense as since she starves herself i suppose she wouldnt be full of major vitiamins etc, but was leadin me to wonder if this is what started off their cannabilism, if that all makes sense.

horrible thing to see either ways that have been described :(
