View Full Version : Jetta's Eggs dbbga Feb 15th, 2004, 04:11pm Here are a few pics of Jetta's eggs. neptune Feb 15th, 2004, 04:13pm Quite a few!!!!! GL!!!!!! tonmo Feb 15th, 2004, 04:16pm Cool, thanks for the pics! I'm no expert (can never seem to say that enough), but from what I've picked up from this site, if the eggs appear totally white, it means they're probably not fertile. Can anyone with knowledge on this chime in? Burstsovenergy24 Feb 15th, 2004, 04:17pm That's how it is with my Cons. Dont know about an octo though. :? dbbga Feb 15th, 2004, 04:30pm well there is definately an egg yoke inside, half of the egg is clear the other half is kinda white but ya never know  Burstsovenergy24 Feb 15th, 2004, 04:34pm Do you have a closer close up? dbbga Feb 15th, 2004, 04:38pm no this is as close as i could get before she totaly went nuts on me :? corw314 Feb 15th, 2004, 04:38pm Excellent pictures! I like the second! Was that Jetta watching? She looked mad!! Doesn't it take a few days before you start to see some development? I know one of the octo eggs, after a week or so you could see a spot in all the eggs. Good luck!! CArol dbbga Feb 15th, 2004, 04:41pm These were also taken with the tank lights off and three large flashlights on her and the eggs, that might have something to due with the color but only time will tell at this point :P dbbga Feb 15th, 2004, 04:42pm Oh yeah she was really mad :x she even came out some what to get me  i just notice these eggs yesterday, i have no idea how long they have been in there since i have left her alone in there and didnt bother her. neptune Feb 15th, 2004, 06:42pm Hope it works out. How exciting!!! Colin Feb 17th, 2004, 02:32am it takes a while to tell if they are fertile or not... remember any disturbances to her now will cause problems, sometimes when they are aggitated they seem to stroke the eggs so much they fall off the cave joel_ang Feb 17th, 2004, 03:50am There is a possibility that the eggs could be fertile, If you wait some days more and the eggs are fertile, you should be able to see the babies developing inside the eggs. Scouse Feb 18th, 2004, 11:37am cool, hope they are fertile :D Sekhmet Feb 20th, 2004, 07:01am great! :D http://www.hawaii.edu/mop/octopus.gif NickA5582 Feb 20th, 2004, 04:10pm :welcome: Sekhmet, cool octo thing, (didja ask permission before you put it on?)! Good luck, Deb!! corw314 Feb 21st, 2004, 09:09am Any update on Jetta? Have you been able to see the eggs or are you leaving her be? Carol And welcome to Sekhmet! :welcome: dbbga Feb 21st, 2004, 09:33am As of this morning i have still been leaving her be. Do you know how much this is driving me nuts not to look every single day!!!!!!!! :bugout: I bought some fresh shrimp last night and today or this evening im gonna try to offer her one  Maybe this time i will use a bambo skewer so she doesnt have to teach me a lesson again :P joel_ang Feb 21st, 2004, 09:48am :welcome: to TONMO.com, I really love those two octopods, did you create them? I say my prayers for the stick, its no match for the beak. Melissa Feb 21st, 2004, 09:57am Welcome, Sekhmet I have the same question as Joel, did you make the animated octos? :notworth: And, did you use 3-d poser software? A geek friend needs to know. Melissa Burstsovenergy24 Feb 21st, 2004, 11:39am :welcome: Sekhmet! That is a cool octo. 8) dbbga Feb 22nd, 2004, 10:55pm Well I got a good look at the eggs today :) , thru the glass  There is def. development here. Small dots are forming in the eggs and they seem to becoming more dense?????HMM dont know how to explain that one but I think they are filling in or out, but def. there are the black looking dots forming at the end were the eggs are attached :) neptune Feb 22nd, 2004, 10:56pm That sounds so promising! 8) Nancy Feb 22nd, 2004, 11:01pm So it looks like you have fertile eggs, as we suspected. Please don't forget to keep us informed about how you're preparing for "the big event". Has Jetta taken any food yet? Nancy Sekhmet Feb 23rd, 2004, 04:25am (excuse my scary english!!! http://2ni2.com/emoticon/patriota/francia.gif)   Oh no ! I didn’t create this gif. You can see in its details that it has been made by YRAM Enterprises, 2002 :notworth: (contact : webmaster@yram.com). When I saw it, I found it so wonderful that I thought you’ll be glad to see it. In fact I have collected lots of octo-gifs all around the web ; my avatar comes from a french website about free gifs. If you are interessed in, I can try to find the link. http://www.suzugamine.ac.jp/~yokota/ani/gif/tako.gif Sekhmet Feb 23rd, 2004, 04:36am okay: here is the website: http://www.123gifs.com/ choix des gifs ---> animal ---> valider ---> pieuvre :D this smiley http://www1.kcn.ne.jp/~fnb/tako.gif could replace your  :P corw314 Feb 23rd, 2004, 06:29am That sounds fertile!!!!! Excellent!!! Lots of Good Luck!!!! Carol dbbga Feb 24th, 2004, 06:53am So what are the little black dots that i am seeing developing in the eggs? and on Sunday there was only one clutch that had the dots now there are three. Does this mean im going to have waves of hatchlings? Depending on when they were Laid ? This is so fascinating. Im gonna have to rig up something that shocks me if go near the tank  corw314 Feb 24th, 2004, 06:58am I think I remember reading that's their eyes developing!!!!! How exciting!!!! Lots of good luck coming your way with your babies!!! Carol dbbga Feb 24th, 2004, 08:02am Thanks Carol :) :) Yes it is exciting!!! How cool ittle eyes :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: Scouse Feb 24th, 2004, 11:22am well exciting!!!! Good Luck!! :D Does anyone know what happens to the mother an the eggs when they hatch? Without meanin to sound insensitive, does she just wonder out an kop for it once her eggs are hatched? or does she pass away once they are at an almost hatched stage? get were im goin with this??? Well i suppose she wont eat them since she's off food and spent all that time carin for them? Just wonderin about the usual process? :D Nancy Feb 24th, 2004, 05:26pm Yes, Debbie, you can expect wave after wave of hatchlings - they will probalby hatch over several days, which is a good thing for you. Nancy joel_ang Feb 25th, 2004, 06:26am Usually, the mom will die during or after hatching, sadly they will be eaten alive if there are predators as they will be too weak to fight back. dbbga Feb 25th, 2004, 06:55am :P :P :P thanks Nancy waves sound alot better than massive hatchings  Burstsovenergy24 Feb 25th, 2004, 05:06pm This is gonna be cool! :D Colin Feb 25th, 2004, 06:04pm scouse, my briareus died about 2 weeks or so after the eggs hatched, she just crawled out of the den and didn't move much again, she went very pale about 3 or 4 days before dying corw314 Feb 25th, 2004, 07:21pm Not to be morbid but Ink did the total opposite of what the norm seems to be. Continued to eat, became so active at the end it was almost like she had gone senile. I think I would have prefered a quick end because it was hard watching so much senseless activity, knowing what the end result would be. And it took her quite a long time. dbbga Feb 26th, 2004, 07:41am That part I am not looking forward to :( I just hope i can get at least one of her babies to survive so i can tank raise it. More would be cool but I know Im fighting a tough battle :? neptune Feb 26th, 2004, 09:04am I hope you have lots of success! :D It's definately a catch 22! Scouse Feb 26th, 2004, 09:27am jeez its quite a sad thing to go throu, even thou you kinda mentally prepare knowin they only live not so long i suppose, hhmmm. i was wonderin cause i was intrested in if the mother dyin would kinda, in theory, provide some food for the newly hatched babies, to ensure they had some source readily available. Althou it wouldnt make major sense as since she starves herself i suppose she wouldnt be full of major vitiamins etc, but was leadin me to wonder if this is what started off their cannabilism, if that all makes sense. horrible thing to see either ways that have been described :( |
