The Humboldt Squid took up a full page article today in the Los Angeles Times :Outdoor" section. The subheading says it all: "They have hooks, hundreds of suckers and beaks that can break your wrist in two bites. Oh yeah, and more of them than ever seem to be swarming the Gulf of California." By hooks, they mean the serated inner edges of the suction cups, there's a good photo of one lured on the cover, if I ever get my scanner working, I'll post it here.
