The LEGO fansite Brickset.com has released pics of upcoming Lego "Designer Sets" in a nutshell, the point of these sets is to include pieces, instructions, and inspirations, for several different models pertaining to a certain motif of model, in this case, a set for summer release called "Deep Sea Predators" contains at least three models, a Shark, an Anglerfish, and {drumroll} a rather large squid:

Here's a link in case the attachment doesn't work

Deep Sea Predators? That sounds like my kind of set, although, the squid model on the box doesn't look that great, I hope there are other cephalopod models in the set.

I guess it could be the way they took the picture of the lego (not the box), like those are the tentacles and the arms are shorter and nearer to the mantle.

I think even if they had a Cuttlefish you wouldnt be able to tell any difference from the squid. :(

I wonder how they'll make the fin of the cuttlefish. its so wavy.

Yeah, I don't think they'll be able to make the curves of the fin unless they come up with a new piece.

But it would be fun to watch them try :)

Maybe we should try making cuttles of lego and see what we get. I've made cuttles out of plasticine too but they have long been squashed.

do you have any idea how much the 25$ brick of pennies weighs? In other words no.... just collect your change out of fountains like the rest of us.... :)

Anyway I didnt mean a GPO or something like that just maybe 1000 pennies. :bugout: to :)

um...
Feb 14th, 2004, 07:49pm
Why not make it out of quarters? Then you'd only need around 40. Waaaaaay easier to collect.

:heee:

Cause if I make it out of pennies I can say it has brass tentacles. :heee:

Look up something called Coinstruction, they're small clips for coins, no need to stack, make it out of various types of coins, it'll make your octo easier to create.

Back on the topic of the Lego Squid (who I've dubbed "Leggy"), the Toy Fansite Altered States Mag, has posted pictutres from New York's Toyfair, showing all major brands' products for this year, in the Lego showroom two designer sets: Deep Sea Predators and Prehistoric, are shown next to each other, as it turns out, Leggy only has two arms, but, Ta-Da! He has a beak! jut look at the picture in the link below!

At least they got one thing right :) But it still looks like quite a pathethic excuse for an Architeuthis if you ask me. :?

It never said it was specifically an Architeuthis, and the model designers probably didn't want to give it wiggly, useless tube arms and sacrificed anatomical acurracy for play-value, they gave it two poseable arms instead of eight limp worms.
