Well, I'm here with family in tow. We actually got in yesterday morning but it's because we are goofing around CA for a month and had a day to spare. I'm not at the Travel log though, I'm a couple of doors down at the Ramada. Hubby made arrangements....long story...
But welcome, regardless! See you at the reception, tonight?

I am here, sitting under an umbrella:smoke:
And I'm sitting across the table from Kevin! We're around back, through the lobby, for anyone looking...
Garrett has arrived with his parents. See everyone later.

Awesome, to those who have just tuned in, it's best to view the video feed direct from the site, just click on the video embed and it should take you there. You can also register there, shouldn't take more than a few moments and that'll let you get access to the video-stream chat. It's quiet there right now, just me and Tony - so we're looking forward to you lot tuning in.

When you say video imbed do you mean the vid picture?

Jun 19, '09, 11:41pm
Should be, if I'm not mistaken.
On a sidenote: It seems the link is down at the moment, not sure what's going on over on their side.

I'd get a picture, there would be some movement, then it would freeze. Frustrating.

You register on the USTREAM site, which you can do either by either clicking on the Signup button to the top right corner of the web page (Next to Broadcast Now) or you can by clicking on the "Chat" button, to the right of the feed - next to the Social Stream button. Clicking on the chat itself will let you read the chat but not actively participate, it will have a prompt for you to login or register if you attempt to type a message.

Can we expect the next vid to start tomorrow at 11 Am PDT?
As my first time at tonmocon, I am having the blast! Meeting everyone face to face was so awesome! Hope all the tech difficultites get worked out for tomorrow!
Terrible wireless network here! Finally am able to get to the Cephalopodcast -- scroll to bottom and hit "play" to hear me interviewed re: TONMOCON and TONMO.com in general.

Fantastic presentation by all. It just made me wish I could be there!
Best. TONMOCON. Evar.
Thanks to everyone involved -- really, it was beyond words. I got so much out of it, personally -- made lots of new friends. Really grateful for the strong turn-out, and we all missed those who wanted to make it but couldn't.

It was a great weekend, nice to finally meet everyone. Thanks to everyone for making a fantastic convention.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to hang out with everyone. I made the trip with some friends, one of whom drove up from San Diego to spend some time with his old man in the Carmel Valley. Unfortunately, we arrived just as the event got started and had to jet for dinner right when it ended at 5. Would have liked to toss a few pints with everyone.
Academy of the Sciences was nice, but the weather in SF was a huge disappointment. I keep hearing this nonsense about how the bay area is cloudy, windy, cold, and damp, so I say "Cool, I'm there!" Then I get there and I'm sweating under the hot sun. It's happened 5 or 6 times now. I'm convinced that everyone is lying to me.
I think this is only my second post since the Sarasota Tonmocon. Guess I'll have to work on my participation a bit.

That was such a wonderful experience and as others have said, nice to put faces to names. The presentations were fantastic and thank you all for the opportunity to learn so much.
Unfortunately, we didn't really get a chance to say 'good-bye' to everyone though - we lost ourselves in the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
The Aquarium was very nice and I got a lovely greeting from that handsome GPO there.8-) I think Melissa & Angus got some vid of our little meet and greet and hopefully can get it posted at some point.
Back in SF now though so we'll get by Steinhart soon to visit the good lookin' guy there too...oh, and Rich too! :heee:

TONMOCON III was amazing! It was so great to meet you all! Can we have a TONMOCON every year rather than every two?
We agree that this was a great weekend.:roflmao: Garrett says,"Thanks for a great time and I learned loads from it. It was nice to be with 'my own kind'."
Thanks to everyone for making even the youngest cephalopod lover feel right at home. We hope everyone makes it home safely. We are headed to Crater Lake then home on Wednesday.
Jana, Garrett and Fred Kuest
I second Heather's suggestion for an annual event. I had an absolute blast. Just got home to Vlaardingen, where the weather is currently quite Montereyesque, if not slightly warmer.
I MISS YOU GUYS ALREADY!
This is a really great community, I feel privileged to be a part of.

I know that organizing each TONMOCON is a lot of work but I am sure there are plenty of people on the list to help Tony out to try and make it happen every year. The turnout this year was so great and I would imagine more people in the future with mroe great presentations.
There are not too many conferences with such a diverse group of enthusiastic and devoted members for one cause. Glad to be a part of it.
Greg
Hey all -- thanks, I agree this was a great event. Coordination is tough. We talked about it on Saturday night and folks seemed to agree that 2 years is a good span to let our presenters gather the data they need to make the annual event full of fresh info.
I'm on vacation and will definitely have more to say about the event and things we can do going forward -- I echo all the comments and thanks to everyone for making TONMOCON III such a great success!
Even though I didn't make it to the event itself I have been able to "see" some of it. I too would like to thank everyone for all the work thats gone into the organising and running of Tonmocon, and thanks to those that were lucky enough to get there, for making up the audience.
