NickA5582 Jan 22nd, 2004, 05:02pm This one's probably been said too, but anyways, on the episode where Homer finds his overdue library book on ancient Greek stories and stuff, on the Odysseyus one where you see the map, there is a big squid & octo in the corners of the map. Feb 8th, 2004, 10:46am  Exits out the side door, noting how frequently this happens after an um... post... Merely an unfortunate juxtaposition. Yeah, that's it. I, uh, need a... date for a, uh... wedding that I'm going to in... June. So I wanted to know if I could rent a wife, in June, so that I don't have to sit at the cursed singles table. Yeah. And I do need to do some laundry today. *gasp* You didn't think I was implying that the rented wife was supposed to do that, did you? That's sexist! The "(ouch)" was for the toe that I stubbed while getting up to go start vacuuming. WhiteKiboko Feb 10th, 2004, 05:48pm found another reference in an already mentioned episode.... in "that's lobstertainment" when zoidberg is bombing at the comedy club a la yakof smirnov, he says "on earth, everyone is always looking for a giant squid" Burstsovenergy24 Feb 16th, 2004, 10:31pm At the beginning of Homer the Great they go to an aquarium and an octo is seen in a small bag in storage. Later I remember seeing a squid. :) WhiteKiboko Feb 17th, 2004, 01:24am i quasi-rewatched Homer the Great (Stonecutter episode) but didnt see an aquarium or cephs... but i didnt watch too closely... what you described sounds like the beginning of "break my wife, please" when they go to aquarium, an octo is in a bag, the animals jump bart (including an octo), and a squid is on a poster in the doctors office.... Burstsovenergy24 Feb 17th, 2004, 04:53pm Yeah! Oh well. They came on right after each other and I missed the middle. WhiteKiboko Feb 23rd, 2004, 04:07pm i updated the list... put the springfield files in there... where kang or kodos shows up almost as a true octopod... it looks like he has 7 arms.... also saw another sighting in an already mentioned episode.. in itchy scratchy and poochie show, where a 'gangsta octopus' has already been mentioned, one of the cartoonists is were a shirt that has a squid on it... NickA5582 Mar 7th, 2004, 08:22pm A toy octopus was made into a suitcase in the episode where the kids all go to the Roofi concert... WhiteKiboko Mar 13th, 2004, 04:57pm on the commentary for 'lesser of two evils' on the season two dvd (sorry, havent got s3 yet) David Cohen refers to a character a 'gangsta rapping squid lady' when the she (also appears as a nurse to zoidberg in 'War is the H Word') is clearly some sort of jellyfish, much to Clem's delight :) this is odd since in the commentary for 'deep south,' he points out a leafy sea dragon, a coelacanth and mentions that one of his parents is/was a marine biologist..... Also, after updating, it seems Futurama has hit one third Saturation.... WhiteKiboko Mar 21st, 2004, 08:19pm in "Co-Dependent's Day" there was a tentacle in the Creature shop..... Burstsovenergy24 Mar 21st, 2004, 08:53pm In "The Fat and the Furriest" (Homer goes to a dump and fights a bear) Lisa trys on a suit that is a country octopus. :) EDIT: Shoot that's already been mentioned. :( WhiteKiboko Mar 28th, 2004, 08:26pm in "wandering juvie" the sea captain is hancuffed to an octo.... he tells him to "keep your inkhole closed about this...." Burstsovenergy24 Mar 28th, 2004, 08:30pm WOOHOO! I just spotted an octo! In "The Wandering Juvie" the new episode for this week an octo and the Captain are handcuffed together and waiting in line for the blacksmith. :D EDIT: :x WK beat me to it! :x Burstsovenergy24 Apr 18th, 2004, 08:30pm Ok. . . In My Big Fat Geek Wedding I think the guy with the high voice is Cthulhu and walks out Edna Krabappel when she says she wants a real man. :) WhiteKiboko Apr 18th, 2004, 08:31pm not sure.... did anyone else get a good look at the guys the escorted edna away in this week's episode? one of them looked semi-tentacular.... fox doesnt come in clear for me... edit: boe seems to be sharing my brain wavelength once again.... NickA5582 May 10th, 2004, 07:53pm This was probably said before but in the Duff Gardens episode, there was an octopus in the bottom of the Beerquarium. WhiteKiboko May 16th, 2004, 08:31pm Soiling my Simpsons with a N--- D------ song.... :yuck: WhiteKiboko May 20th, 2004, 08:01pm oh, i gotta check the list but i think this is new.... in "colonel homer" when marge and homer go to the movies homer comments that theres an octopus onscreen, but we cant see it... OctopusV Jun 7th, 2004, 04:09pm The Simpsons have done so much, in about forty years I predict they'll have run out of ideas and will have to stoop to an episode called "Queen-sized Marge" Can you comprehend the irony of Marge Simpson having an eating disorder? :bonk: Speaking of which, what was the deal with "Large Marge" and "The Strong Arms of the Ma"? It was my impression that the writers were also good at coming up with episode ideas as well as writing the scripts to them. By the way, I learned a few weeks ago that my therapist knows Danny Castellaneta, I have the coolest therapist. WhiteKiboko Jun 7th, 2004, 05:33pm got a chance to pay attention during "big fat geek wedding".... not quite cthulhu-esque but definitely cephish... the tentacles seemed to be coming out of his body... some people here might find this interesting: http://www.csupomona.edu/~jelerma/springfield/index.html OctopusV Jun 7th, 2004, 11:20pm Futurama: "I Dated A Robot": Fry and his Lucy Liu-bot feed T-bones to a hungry ceph-ish creature with eyes on two arms at the Brooklyn Aquarium, similar to the Dianoga. WhiteKiboko Jun 12th, 2004, 08:39pm in "radio bart" (bart pretends to be some kid down a well) the diggers trying to reach bart nearly miss an alien ship with a quite kang/kodos like skeleton inside, but without pointy teeth.... WhiteKiboko Jun 27th, 2004, 10:43pm in "girly edition" (lisa anchors 'kids news') bart doing one of his many bond/bloefeld imitations, calls lisa "octopussy" WhiteKiboko Jun 30th, 2004, 07:54pm in "das bus" (model UN trapped on an island) theres an octo hiding out in the sunken bus... NickA5582 Jun 30th, 2004, 10:09pm [5] Simpson Tide (Homer Joins Naval Reserve) -> Squid attacks sub Also, in Homer's little drawing there is an octopus near the bottom of it. WhiteKiboko Jul 8th, 2004, 07:19pm in "lost our lisa" when lisa is lost in the russian district, an old woman presses a purple ceph up against the side of the phone booth lisa is in and tries to sell it to her... WhiteKiboko Nov 8th, 2004, 01:13pm Treehouse of Horror 15.... Obviously Kang and Kodos were present but Marge referred to them as "Octopuses" WhiteKiboko Nov 15th, 2004, 12:14pm in "all's fair in oven war" ned complains to homer that rod told a joke about an octopus and a bagpipe and the punchline involved fornication... if she didnt see it im sure tani would be proud.... WhiteKiboko Jan 1st, 2005, 09:58pm in $pringfield (or How i learned to stop worrying and love legalized gambling), a tentacle hands homer a phone with the President on the other end.... not sure if ive mentioned it, but in futurama episode "where the buggalo roam" the mars university statue is visible.... i'm in the process of updating the simpceph list.... might try and collate in the writers that pop up more than once.... WhiteKiboko Feb 7th, 2005, 09:52am this past week, (where homer does the super bowl halftime show) bart then homer wins a giant purple stuffed octo... interesting.... if a ceph appears on the simpsons it almost always is purple.... Tintenfisch Mar 6th, 2005, 02:34pm Last night the episode where Homer discovers that the Japanese dish detergent Mr. Sparkle has his face on the box aired again here... and during that very bizarre Mr. Sparkle commercial, as the floating head bounces along a child's xylophone, there's an octopus toy in the background. Clem Mar 7th, 2005, 07:49pm This link (http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/s/superiorsquad.htm) hosts a Matt Groening drawing depicting Radioactive Man and the rest of his Superior Squad, including...Captain Squid. Clem WhiteKiboko May 8th, 2005, 09:03pm in 'thank god, it's doomsday,' when moe's becomes a sushi bar there an octo (or squid) sitting in front of moe waiting to be chopped... what a shock, its that lavenderish color they seem to paint most cephs with.... :rainbow: WhiteKiboko Sep 18th, 2005, 08:32pm in "the girl who slept too little" dr. nick (while graverobbing) picks up extra arms and says that he's not dr. nick but dr. ock.... msamaki Nov 5th, 2005, 09:44pm [11] Less Than Hero (Fry/Leela/bender as superheroes) -> Leela's Mom wasn't one of the exhibits at the museum of natural history a giant squid? was it mentioned here already? WhiteKiboko Jan 8th, 2006, 08:33pm unlike the ignorant lobster, the intelligent (and STILL light purple Octopus - come on guys, i dont think cephs do blue in their chromatophores) avoided some dumped nuclear waste in "Homer's Paternity Coot" (homer thinks someone else is his father).... :rainbow: WhiteKiboko May 7th, 2006, 08:32pm in "regarding margie" homer coughs up a red octo after being hit with a wave and swamped with seaweed.... WhiteKiboko Jun 22nd, 2006, 09:55pm in "the wettest stories ever told" (sea theme anthology show) a chef at the frying dutchman is in a knife fight with an octo and is seven knives short... WhiteKiboko Aug 21st, 2006, 10:27pm ok.. on the season 8 dvds during the commentary track, david x. cohen (also worked on futurama) mentioned the fact that the cartoon writer with the squid shirt [in episode 'itchy and scratchy and poochie show' ] is in fact based on him... he goes on to mention that he has had numerous shirts with squids on them and that his dad was a marine biologist (which i believe he mentioned on a futurama commentary but i couldn't identify who said it)... matt groening also chimed in that (at the time of recording the commentary - at least a couple of months ago i think) he had just TIVOed 2 documentaries on humboldts.... i'm guessing disc and pbs... WhiteKiboko Dec 10th, 2006, 08:45pm in "the haw-hawed couple," a noble octopus steals the scuba tank being used by the delinquents nelson and bart for his own personal use.... sorseress Dec 11th, 2006, 12:07am Right now Secrets of the Deep is on Discovery, and immediately after is Giant Squid: Caught on Camera, followed by Secrets of the Deep....for anyone who is still up. WhiteKiboko Dec 29th, 2006, 12:40am watching on dvd, i saw something that i had previously missed in 'lisa the heretic' there is a purple squid in the jar at the very beginning of stephen j gould's office.... its on screen for maybe a half of a second... WhiteKiboko Jan 28th, 2007, 10:16pm had the tv on, but was on the phone... i think the alien in american dad was holding a realistic (for a cartoon) looking octo for some reason.... i think stewie's stuffed octo in his room also made another appearance in family guy, but like i said, i wasnt watching too closely WhiteKiboko Mar 11th, 2007, 09:26pm where to start with the family guy episode "Bill and Peter's Bogus Journey"? maybe with the big bluish octo at the aquarium, or maybe with peter harassing the octo... then again we could start where the glass broke and the octo attacked, or where the old sailor with 2 peg legs and 2 peg arms threw the octo against the wall, that has its merits.... the again, a few minutes later, said octo outside the house next to his hotrod waiting for peter so he can beat him up is good.... but my favorite has to be the smaller swimming blue octo with 8 peg legs... Jean Mar 11th, 2007, 11:55pm (and STILL light purple Octopus - come on guys, i dont think cephs do blue in their chromatophores) They don't, but they can reflect it either on the white muscle underlying the chromatophores or in their iridophores such as those in the Bimacs eye spot or in the BR. We had one once that totally matched the blue background in his tank! J WhiteKiboko Mar 12th, 2007, 12:04am Hush you! i'm lecturing those fatcats in hollywood... Jean Mar 12th, 2007, 03:44pm Hush you! i'm lecturing those fatcats in hollywood... Sorry.....educators hat on again:roll: It pounces when I least expect it! J WhiteKiboko Mar 12th, 2007, 04:58pm understandable.... but we can rule out lavender right? Jean Mar 12th, 2007, 06:19pm ummmmmm no not really. Our Pinnoctopus cordiformis when in a state I would judge as "relaxed" is often a lavender grey colour. BUT I would rule out strong lavenders and purple...............although I guess they could reflect those colours on the white muscles :bonk:....................iridophores tho' only do blue and green I read somewhere. J bobwonderbuns Mar 12th, 2007, 07:30pm I don't know if I am overexposed to the media or what, but here is my general sighting for the day. On last nights Jeopardy, during the jeopardy round, the following clue was given ( I don't remember the catagory, it was somethign like "size matters" this clue is paraphrased but accurate) This underwater animal has the largest eye of any animal in the world The answer GIANT SQUID!!!! :squid: I was listening in the kitchen while cooking, head the clue, and shouted out ARCHITECTUETHIS DUX!!!
