I’m reading contradictory information about how to use the eyespots to distinguish between O. Bimaculoides and O. Bimaculatus. Which one has a a solid ("sunburst-like”) blue ring, and which has a broken (“chain link”) eye spot?

Here’s a picture of the ring on a little Bimac I caught in a tidepool recently. I would call this ring solid, unbroken, and “sunburst-like”, as opposed to “chain link”. So is it a Bimaculatus or a Bimaculoides (or is the blue ring on the eyespot inconclusive)?

This photo is not too clear. Look at the photo in the bimac care sheet - you can see the unbroken "chain links". That's what an O. bimaculoides's ocellus looks like. Most likely the eye spot you photographed looks like this.

Ok, so Bimaculoides will have an unbroken chain link.
What will Bimaculatus have? A broken circle? A smooth unbroken circle (no chain links)? How are the rings on the two different?
