Just got my baby bandensis just about an hour ago...They are still acclimating...pics to come! Im very excited!!!! cant think of a better reason to go in to work late right now hahah!

So the made it! Sweet!

Well they are still hiding and i dont wanna bug them out with the flash and there is now way i can get a shot of them right now without it...How long does it normally take them to warm up to a new tank? I know i have had wrasses and other shy fish take up to a few weeks before i even got a glimpse of them in the tank...

They should perk up in the next couple of days. :D

I would think they might be hungry tonight as well.

Well the bigger of the two ate 3 or so mysis after being in the tank for minutes...the smaller one got in the tank and just ran for cover behind the rock. Turns out i was looking so hard for them and they were right in front of my face! here are the first few pics i got :)
BTW anyone who is thinking about buying their cuttles from Thales...he is a pleasure to deal with and has been in contact with me in numerous emails through out the buying/decision making process. He is a stand up guy and I highly reccomend anyone interested in buying S.bandensis to get them through him!

Thats not such a bad idea!! me and my girl were standing there for a good 45 min to an hour trying to find them until i saw the tube worm retract and voila he was right dead smack in the middle of the tank just watching us!

Man the bigger one is warming up to me :) It was just coming against the glass "begging" the little one is still hiding but i did see it eat a few pieces of mysis so that is a good sign... Quick question, when they turn really dark is that normal or is it saying it is mad or what? Anyway here are some more pics i snapped tonight. I tried to get a pic of it snathcing food but man it is fast! it is like trying to catch a pic of chameleon's tongue snatching prey!
Once the camera came out It started to display this really dark color...almost black..am i just being a new worried parent? haha

The little cuttle seems to stalk its food kinda like a cat. Where the bigger one is strictly business haha! Very cool little creatures... glad i am able to experience them in my living room!

So, badly that i went to meetings (reef club meetings) where we sit around in a circle and do the usual "Hi im craig and im addicted to reefing" But now i think these cuttles may have started a new addiction! My girlfriend is going to kill me when she finds out that i am planning a new tank for another ceph hahah!

How big would you say that they are now?

Do you have a picture of the darker color? When they feel a little uncertain or possibly threatened they will go to a darker color for camo. If they were mad, they would stretch all thier tentacles out and flare up to make them seem larger and more menacing. Unless you have two males there, you might not see this behavior much if at all.

One step ahead of you hahah! Already planning a 125 or 180 to plumb into my 90 gallon SPS tank for an S. officinalis and some softies...

I have seen one do the flaring of the tentacle and turn really dark when i started cleaning with the mag float. I think they were just nervous and unsure of their new surroundings. They are warming up a lot more and even begining to interact a bit with me (when food is present) haha!! i dont have any new pics of the dark color but they arent really doing it anymore unless they are spooked.

I think it's amazing how cuttles and octos can recognize the one that feeds them.If anyone is in the room when I feed Olorin(besides my wife) he grabs the food than hides in the LR.But if its just me he will play tug o war or even climb somewhat out of the tank for his food.

Thats awesome! My anthias in my reef dont give a damn!! if you have food they love you haha! Its only been a little less than a week and they def know i am the magic food god! they dont seem to mind me being near the tank when feeding but as soon as my girlfriend walks behind me they dive back into the rocks. It is amazing how they can recognize people like that!

My son's like that,He couldn't care who fed him.

It has been awhile since someone mistakenly referred to themselves as a food god. Think on it a bit, I believe you will come to realize the correct word is slave:razz:

oh yeah, they know, rigby LOVES me... the hand that feeds him... but if shane goes near him or gets in his tank he gets mad and bounces up and down, and turns dark and will even run after him... but if it is me he sits and is sweet and will wave at me...
