How can i tell if the eggs are fertile or not?? gholland Feb 17th, 2008, 09:47am Time is the only answer I know. Wait a few weeks and see if embryos develop! Octavarium Feb 17th, 2008, 12:00pm How long ago would an octopus have to mate if they were to produce fertile eggs months later in a home aquarium? dwhatley Feb 18th, 2008, 12:16am I have read that some can keep sperm for 6 months or more but I believe that was for a GPO. I know Trapper (Mercatoris) mated over a month before brooding but she only produced 6 young. Her daughter, however, started brooding almost immediately after mating. marinebio_guy Feb 18th, 2008, 12:56am If they are good you should start seeing it starting to develope in a week or two.
