View Full Version : NRCC
Spence24 Dec 30th, 2007, 06:06pm Man I wish the NRCC sold to aquarium enthusiasts. You could get a live guaranteed bimac for as little as $30. Is there any way it is possible to buy from these guys outside of becoming a bona-fide researcher???
prices and info located here:

shipposhack Dec 30th, 2007, 06:18pm The NRCC only supplies to researchers and schools. Sorry, without papers proving one of those things you will not get a cephalopod from them.
Spence24 Dec 30th, 2007, 06:23pm Well my sister in law is a teacher, but has nothing to do with science...umm i think it is a language arts class. I am also pretty good friends with a chemistry teacher. If they would sell to either of them, do you think that would be an issue in the sense of the nacc caring?
shipposhack Dec 30th, 2007, 11:44pm I think they would care if it was not used for education purposes. I doubt you will be able to "trick" them into getting a ceph for you if one of your teacher-friend's purchase it.
Nancy Dec 30th, 2007, 11:55pm You know, people from the NRCC do read these posts! Their cephs are intended for education and research purposes.

Spence24 Dec 31st, 2007, 01:06am Thank you for your reply, I am defiantly not trying to "trick" anyone, thats why I asked before I wanted to check and see...I wasn't sure if they only sent to researchers because of to many people buying them without the knowledge of how to keep one. And if I had a teacher to reference my knowledge....well anyway, thank you for your inputs.
Nancy Dec 31st, 2007, 01:27am Well, maybe you could arrange it as an educational project. They are kept in many schools.
Didn't mean to imply you were trying to trick anyone - just that you probably ought to inquire there.

Spence24 Dec 31st, 2007, 01:43am Well, I'd hate to say, but I know it's true that the only reliable resource for bimacs is restricted:banghead: And I am already cycling my tank now, I really would like to keep him here, right with me. So... whatever, I'll have to just keep on waitin', guess it doesn't really matter now, because as many of you probably know my tank won't be done maturing until late february.
Nancy Dec 31st, 2007, 02:01am Bimacs are available from time to time. Have a look at Glove - the Journal in the Journals and Photos forum. Aculeatus are often available and make good octo pets.

Spence24 Dec 31st, 2007, 02:08am Ya, I know they are available from time to time, and I read all about glove already, no doubt a great pet. But, I just wish their was a really reliable source like octopets around.
Colin Dec 31st, 2007, 03:43pm LOL i think we all do!!!
Thales Dec 31st, 2007, 05:37pm LOL i think we all do!!!
You betcha!
DHyslop Dec 31st, 2007, 06:57pm But, I just wish their was a really reliable source like octopets around.
Octopets was anything but reliable :)
Thales Dec 31st, 2007, 06:59pm Yeah, and they owe me money!
Spence24 Jan 1st, 2008, 01:44am Haha, well that was all before my time, but I just wish their was someplace that had octo's somewhat regularly and they were defiantly bimacs... haha, I know...I live in a dream world. Hah.
SandV Jan 1st, 2008, 06:32pm I wish now that i had gotten two.... but i didn't know mine was a bimac before i got it... and there would have been no way to guareentee a male and a female and then to get them to breed... sigh
shipposhack Jan 1st, 2008, 06:43pm There is also no guarantee that multiple octos would live in harmony.
Nancy Jan 1st, 2008, 07:32pm Getting two bimacs, even from a group where they grew up together, hasn't turned out successfully. Mercatoris, on the other hand, seem to be able to live together.
