'... people needed to be aware of what to do if stung or bitten by a blue-ringed octopus.'

Stung by what part, exactly? :hmm:
Lucky outcome in any case!

I worked on the island next door to straddie (where this occured), it was Moreton Island and I worked at a Marine Education Centre. One day some tourists had found a blue ringed occy, scooped it up in a bucket and came and asked us if we'd want it!!! What for, I don't know! We said no, and then released it back into the water. They were a bit surprised by our reactions and weren't aware it was so dangerous.....Tourists!!!!
