This is a second giant squid stranding in recent weeks, per Dr. O'Shea.

"Giant squid (architeuthis) are the world's largest invertebrate and can move at up to 40 kilometres per hour."

And this, while te Papa is housing a half ton monster of the meso kind... It is telling, that 40 km per hour is roughly the maximum attainable speed of a London doubledecker bus, they may be in a bit of a mix-up altogether :wink:
