Fish's Tank

  1. Week 9-13 Izzy - O.Mercatoris

    Hey folks,
Just when you thought I gave up on blogging. I'm back. To be honest there is not much to report. No interaction at all and I hardly ever see her. All I get is quick glimpses of a arm going by or the occasional black flash. And I find the remains of her snacks, mostly snails and hermits. I would give her shrimp on a stick but I don't know where her den is. I see her and rush to get a shrimp but by the time I get back she is gone.

Around week nine I moved Izzy ...
  2. Week 8 - Pair of Mercatoris

Well its week 8 already and things are going relatively well with Izzy and Bee, well Izzy at least Bee is still MIA.

I tried really hard to shoot some footage of me feeding Izzy some shrimp on a stick. I had two cameras two tripods red lights and a little white LED mounted to one of the cameras. Everything was perfect and it had to work! HA! Take one I realized I needed more light and she took the shrimp with out the camera catching it, I also had a crab that decided he had to be ...
  3. Week 7- Izzy and Bee

Well Bee still continues to elude me. The general thinking is that she is brooding in the tank. I look anxiously every night hoping to see some babies but no sign yet.

I tried to get a video of me feeding Izzy but I was trying to do too much at once and it ended in camera on the floor and scratched, and flashlight in the tank and now dead. I think I'll get some help the next time.
  4. Weeks 5 and 6-Izzy and Bee-O.Mercatoris

Well, with Izzy things continue to be good. She is not very social which I expected but I have spottede her out a few times. And I continue to feed her shrimp pieces with a bamboo skewer. She also really enjoys small Hermit crabs and small Turbo Snails. From the shell count she is eating a few a week on top of the shrimp I give her every two days.

As for Bee...I have no idea. I have never found her den. There is only one spot in that tank I cant see but ...
  5. Week 4 Izzy and Bee

Although not a ugely exciting week but we did have some action. First and most important I found one. I am not sure which one it is, I'm not even sure i would be able to tell unless they were next to each other, as Izzy was a little bigger than Bee. Anyway however it is is hiding in a nice little crevice had where a piece of Florida rock is sitting on top of a piece of Fiji rock. In her den I can see a few empty snail shells so I am sure she is eating them. The den is deep enough that it may house ...
